What a cracking game of hurling that was on Sunday between both Cork and Clare at a full house in Croke Park. After the match a lot of the Rebel supporters felt hard done by, by some of the decisions that Johnny Murphy made.

What an end to the game of hurling and already we can’t wait for next year. There were some crucial calls Johnny Murphy did get wrong though and to be fair to the Limerick native. I think it’s about high time we have a second referee or a TMO to give the referees that extra helping hand ..
Are they still crying? They got frees for a lot of those… They should look at their brutal defending, their puckouts and bad shooting before crying about the ref. And if Clare played on the edge of what was allowed, why didn’t Cork? They didn’t make one challenge in anger the whole game.

Great game to watch as a neutral, 2 great teams, big respect for the way Donal og and cork manager handled defeat, this compilation is just a sad reaction to a justified loss. Refs can’t see everything, Clare people will feel he made plenty mistakes on their side. Cork have 30 wins Clare have 5… grow up…..
Bottom line is Cork were robbed by referee and umpire decisions. David McInerney should have got a second yellow card for cynical pull down of a player in on goal. Referee bottled it. Referees having relatives and clubmates as umpires should be stopped. After all, I think real supporters want the right decisions made on the field. That’s why other codes have brought in video footage to sort out this mess. Not right that amateur players who train hard and sacrifice so much are treated like this.
Cork got a lot of frees whereas the Clare players were battered especially as they headed near the Cork goal. They deserved the win. Should have won by a lot more. Actually the game was being spun out to try to get a Cork win in my opinion. He just had to blow the whistle in the end.

They won trough to an all Ireland final against Clare they weren’t good enough then and they aren’t good enough today

There was just one key foul worth talking about which prevented a draw at the end. Robbie O’Flynn was pulled backwards by the Clare defender, thus preventing an equalising point.

The incident came where Cork think they should have got a penalty as a result of an incident at the other end when Aaron Shanagher fielded a high ball and was pulled caught by the Cork around the shoulder and neck. That could have been a penalty but in his judgment Johnny Murphy awarded a free against the man who caught the ball. Johnny made several strange calls that affected both sides. The cup is in Clare where it rightly belongs. Sean Stack, a Clareman gave Cork a penalty that kept them in the championship in the first game against Limerick with Cathal O’Neill between Kingston and the goal. The Rock admitted that in up for the match.

We’ve taken plenty of beatings with dignity over the years so I doubt your comment is true at all.
Video starts at 67:30 in the match, at 67 mins Shanagher is blatantly fouled but ref gives free out and cork get that peno chance. If that free to Shanagher was given then Clare are up by 4 at 68 minutes and none of this video or extra time never happen.
The referee was a disgrace and his umpires. Every referee in an All-Ireland Final let’s the game flow. There’s no argument that he added anything positive to the spectacle. There was three major calls in the game and he got them all wrong. McInerney should have been sent off. What were the umpires doing for the ’65? Robbie O’Flynn foul at the end was a free. A draw would have been a fair result and whatever happened the next day so be it. Hopefully Johnny Murphy never referee’s an All-Ireland Final again or any inter-county game. He was out of his depth come extra-time and unable to keep up to the game. His umpires should go to Specsavers or better again keep away from umpiring.

Clare got no free in the second half. Not one. In 40 minutes of hurling. No free. Maybe watch that second half back and make a compilation of that.
It’s happened before in other team sports when the team that takes out the dominant side only to get beaten/robbed by the team that couldn’t/hadn’t beat them in er a month of Sundays…
Can’t wait for Cork to wipe the smiles from all the haters faces. What a disgrace that you can’t support a team that gave a good game of hurling and within the camp never complained and fought a good season. They’ll be back next year and do us proud again. As for sore losers, I doubt that very much as we’ve gotten used to losing and the spite for years. It seems you all want to keep the status quo of Kerry, Dublin, Kilkenny and Limerick as the only ones each year. Applaud any team that breaks the mould and gives it a shot. Haters gonna hate, but Cork and others will silence you yet. Mark my words. Sport is about the game and the fun and bringing people together but the hate and spite here is disgraceful. Shame
