Barcelona has reportedly been told by La Liga that they can’t register Gavi after the 18-year-old agreed to a new contract at the club.
The Spanish midfielder is no doubt one of the greatest talents in the world and at just 18, he could potentially go on to become a legend of the game.
So, it was imperative that Barcelona tie him down with a new contract at the club and that’s exactly why they did.

But this is where things get tricky.
Because of the club’s ridiculous financial situation and their sketchy FFP issues, they are unable to register him as a senior player. This means that he can still play for the club but won’t be rewarded with a new contract or a new shirt number.
Barcelona has been told by La Liga that they need to reduce their wage bill by €200 million, a ridiculous feat that only the Spanish club could find a way around.
