Eddie Hearn has insisted his relationship with Anthony Joshua was the reason why he could never sign his rival Tyson Fury.
Hearnâs Matchroom boxing have worked with Joshua for the whole of his professional career following his gold medal win at the London 2012 Olympics.
Since then the pair have built up a deep friendship and working relationship according to Hearn.

He told GRM Daily: âFor me, you get to a point where you want to have relationships and journeys â you want to make money â but the journey Iâve been on with AJ, weâll never forget, and I donât want to fall out with him because I signed Tyson Fury.
âThe one thing about my relationship with AJ is itâs real. Weâre honest with each other, weâre on a level with each other, weâd never lie to each other. It only takes one line at a presser when Iâm up there with Tyson Fury and I go âthis guyâs the best heavyweight in the world â and then heâs like âwhat?â That can all change
âVery few times do you start a journey with a fighter from their pro debut to the end of their career and you can have though conversations, glasses of wine when itâs all said and do and say âwe had a good runâ.â
On Fury, the Matchroom promoter admitted he couldnât envisage âThe Gypsy Kingâ returning to the summit of the division.
He added: âHe came to see me in Monaco once when he was at his worst, 27 stone, sweating,â said Hearn. âWhat he came back from was remarkable, I sat with him and didnât believe heâd get back to where he did. But also, I thought how can I put my heart and soul into you when Iâve got this guy and I really want him to beat you.â
We could see the British heavyweights collide in 2025 if âHis Excellencyâ Turki Alalshikh gets his way and if they both win their fights against Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk respectively.
