Alli was previously a staple in the England team, with the assumption being that he would remain that way for many a year. The then Tottenham midfielder was regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in football.
However, Alli’s development has stuttered to a standstill. He is now absolutely nowhere near the England picture, with Spurs having abandoned any hope that had of him one day developing into a serious footballer.
