In a considerable blow to Antonio Conte’s transfer plans, Wolves winger Adama Traore looks set to re-join Barcelona.
Traore looked set to leave Wolves since the opening day of the transfer window, having fallen out of favour with manager Bruno Lage.
Tottenham were the club most closely linked with the Spaniard, with Conte understood to be keen on fielding him as a right-wing-back.
However, Traore himself does not appear to have much desire to play that role, hence why he hasn’t put pen to paper on a move to Tottenham.
The Athletic report that talks between Wolves and Tottenham were progressing well, but Adama’s reluctance to play further back resulted in an end to negotiations.

The report notes that Adama is now set to join Barcelona on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for a sum in the region of €35m [£29m].
Barcelona fans are not likely to be over the moon with re-signing a player who they released, especially considering he hasn’t set the world alight elsewhere.
However, as we know, expectations have been lowered at the Nou Camp in recent seasons. We can’t expect them to make sound investments anymore.
