The Rugby Football Union has apologised after their decision to change the tackle height in English community rugby was hit with widespread backlash.ย
Last week, the RFU announced that from July onwards the legal tackle height would be lowered to the waist.
This decision did not go down well as fans, clubs and players all disagreed with the new rule.

The backlash was so intense that the RFU have been forced to apologise for the โanger and concernโ that came from the announcement.
โIn our desire to act quickly to reduce head impacts and concussions in the community game, which represents 99% of the rugby playing population in England, we have upset many of you who are the champions, volunteers, and ambassadors of our game.โ The statement said.
โWe fully acknowledge we got the engagement wrong, and we are truly sorry.โ
