Dimitar Berbatov couldnât help but aim a sly dig at Liverpool while predicting this weekendâs Manchester derby.
The treble winners make the cross-city trip to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon to try and claw back Tottenhamâs lead at the top of the table.
City fans will be a lot more confident than Unitedâs as Erik ten Hagâs side are yet to find their feet this season.
Currently sitting eighth in the Premier League table, the Red Devils have lost four of their opening five games.
Speaking ahead of the derby, Manchester United legend Berbatov bluntly stated the facts.
âThis is the fact: United are chasing City. You canât say any different. The roles have shifted. Itâs painful for everybody to see this but itâs a fact.â Berbatov told the Mail Online.
âLetâs see what will happen when Pep Guardiola leaves. City could continue in the way they are or go back behind United.
âItâs up to United to try to close that gap as soon as possible otherwise weâre risking a period of time of not winning the league⌠now itâs 10 years, weâre risking becoming like Liverpool were. Itâd be a major disaster.
âThe stadium needs to be renovated, to be up with modern times. The club is as big as the players on the pitch. When you win, you have a product. When you lose, everybody suffers.â
